Project purpose:

                                This project aims to provide students with an understanding and mastery of background knowledge and cutting-edge dynamics in various research fields based on classical experimental methods and literature reading methods.

I. Project introduction

This internship program is designed for students who plan to apply for biology, bioinformatics, biomedical, and medical. Students will work with Tsinghua University/Beijing Life Research Institute instructors to use classical experimental methods to explain and read the literature, so that students can understand and master the background knowledge and frontier dynamics of various research fields. After the internship, the instructor will issue a recommendation letter based on the student's performance.

Second, the project content

This internship program is based on the discussion of classic subjects and articles in the field of mainstream biological research such as cell death, therapeutic antibodies, HBV receptors, and autophagy, allowing students to understand the basic research content involved in various fields, and the research methods used. And possible future research directions, including the following aspects:

Understand the research history of programmed cell death, research ideas and the application of biochemical test methods in biomedical research;

Understand the basic concepts of therapeutic antibodies and develop classical targets for therapeutic antibodies;

Understand the discovery process and research ideas of HBV receptors;

Understand the research process of cell autophagy, research ideas and the application of genetic experimental methods in biomedical research.

Third, the strength of teachers

The teacher is a postdoctoral researcher at the Beijing Institute of Life Sciences. He studied at Tsinghua University/Beijing Institute of Life Sciences and received his Ph.D. in biology. During the Ph.D., the research on siRNA/Ago 4 complex in Arabidopsis cytoplasm and nucleus transport mechanism, apoptosis and necrotic small molecule inhibitors and autophagy in model organisms, etc. Support for a number of national key research projects, such as the Development Plan Project (973 Program), the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Science and Technology Major Project. In 2017, he was responsible for the study of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis D virus (HDV) neutralizing antibodies at the Beijing Institute of Life Sciences. The paper was published in important academic journals such as Elife (JCR Division 1 of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) and obtained international patents.

Fourth, enrollment objects and requirements

Most outstanding undergraduates and some excellent high school students plan to apply for biology, bioinformatics, biomedical, medical and other related majors. In order to enable students to better complete research projects, the project team will take the form of written examination and interview. Students are screened.
